London

Well, Anna travelled over by plane, she ran, and she conquered. Our Dee Runner Anna Savage ran an incredible 26.219 miles in the London 2026 marathon in a phenomenal time of 4 hours 18 minutes and 55 seconds. What an incredible achievement Anna that truly reflects the dedication, time and hard work you have put into all your training. It has been amazing to see all the support and well wishes Anna received before and after the race emphasising what a wonderful and supportive club Dee Runners really is. Huge congratulations Anna!

Here is Annas story highlighting how she felt about the whole experience.

London Marathon was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend running it. I was actually on the verge of tears at the start and finish line. It is such an emotional experience! My highlights, in no particular order were:

  1. Seeing Daddy Pig and Joe Wicks
  2. Getting to see my family twice in the crowds
  3. The noise of the crowds
  4. All the people running in fancy dress
  5. Walking to the bus stop afterwards and having a crowd of people outside a pub clapping and cheering for me!

Thank you so much for letting me have the Dee Runners club place, I have raised about £700 for the MS Society but will confirm the total soon.

Races

Our local dee mountain men are back for race 4 of the series brought us to the Annalong Horseshoe. A 9km race with a 500m ascent. Another tough and rewarding challenge for John Pugh and Andy Dainty with completing the race in great times of 1.21 and 1.27. Brilliant efforts all round especially in hot sunny conditions.

Park Run

2 PBS at park run this week. Well done Lynsey at Bangor and Shelley at Comber. Amazing running from both of you especially as it was a hot sunny morning. Big thanks to Mark Finlay for volunteering 2 weeks in a row now at Bangor Park run. No better way to start off a birthday by running 3 lap of Bangor park run and that’s exactly what Cara did. Happy Birthday! Finally, lovely spot of dee park run tourism from Lynne who ran Rostrevor for the first time with a cracking time of 27.53 in 17th position.

Also next week if you name isn’t registered on park run, I will not add you in so please take note and get yourself named as a dee runner 😊
